Exactly what you'd expect at a Fortune 50 company: Highly pressured senior management doing their best against formidable odds. The company culture was surprisingly humane and supportive compared to others I have worked in, and have no fault with any of my managers.

I was given considerable latitude in the execution of my duties so long as the deliverables met internal standards and all of the normal HR policies were adhered to, along with the considerable regulatory / compliance rules that needed to be maintained to ensure corporate health and good standing.

It goes without saying that a proper cadence needed to be maintained without any oversight.

It was a good 5 year run, but at the end, when the spin off / downsizing happened to create the DXC brand, employees were reduced to a number on a spreadsheet. As a result, the layoffs made little to no sense, with a lot of very top talent that was producing billable results let go. The appearance is that the new DXC has given up on Canada, evidenced by the strategic path started two years ago to not make any investment in country, and instead to form a US centric delivery organization coupled with executive presence only in Toronto, and very little of that.

Pros: Friendly staff.  Great location.  Awesome gym.  Employees are nice and fair (outside of management).  Plenty of free parking to go around.

Cons:
If you are an employee with many years under your belt, make sure to either leave after a few years or climb up the corporate ladder, because you WILL get laid off or workforce reduced if the company does not make substantial gains year over year, and that will happen sooner or later.  

You are a number only at this company, even if you do really good.  
If your salary is on the upper band for your position, brace yourself because you will be workforce reduced soon.  This company loves to engage in WFR mode and has done so at least a dozen times in the last 20 years.  Facts.

 Sadly, this company may let you go if
1) the company does not make profit for 1 or more quarters in a row.
2) they will find someone younger to replace you, someone who will accept a pay 65% of what you make.  Facts.

Bottom line: As long as the company makes money, globally AND nationally, your position is safe.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company used to have good compensation and an excellent work environment in the past, up until around 2010. However, after that, it changed drastically and became a company that used its employees however it wanted. It didn’t care if they worked 12, 14, 16, or even 18 hours a day. There were constant cutbacks, and the remaining employees were expected to absorb the entire workload without any additional compensation or benefits, and with no regard for their rest or health. It turned into a very demotivating work environment.

Low salaries, stressful  work environment, recurrent layoffs, lack of Human Resources. Work load against the permitted by law

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day was boring, stressful, full of pressure, and overshadowed by the constant fear of recurring staff cut

A typical day at work would be arriving on time , early if possible , signing onto your computer & your phone , & taking calls from customers with questions , concerns & or adding/removing products to their account.
I have learned a lot about customer service , how to deal with angry customers , also how to answer questions in a respectable manor , and help them with any issues they may have , I also learned how to use multiple programs on a computer at one time.
Management are pretty good with making sure their employees are satisified with their job and doing everything they can for them, The Co-workers are amazing to work with , they can help you with any issues you may have and also be there for you as a friend, the hardest part of the job i would say would be dealing with a very unhappy customer that is very irate and yelling , I have learned to just talk to them in a civil manor and help them to the best of your abilitty. The most enjoyable part of the job  would be everything , the happy customers , being able to help people and also meeting new people.

A lot of good people work here; many with several years of employment that will not leave in order to maintain their grandfathered package. Newer employees have good benefits but the work environment is toxic. Its a large organization so you are really just a number unless you are lucky enough to fall into a group of 'connected' people that will have you recognized. Organization went through 5+ years with no bonuses or pay increases (if you were under a Director level) due to poor investments. Contributions to RSP were even reduced from 5% to 3%. Surveys are submitted yearly but none of the employee issues are addressed to help improve. I was in a team that increased growth and revenue year over year consistently (beating company targets) but the way they compensate is based on overall company performance so no one on our team was recognized.

Working at Hewlett Packard Enterprise has been a rewarding experience overall. The company fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture where employees are encouraged to share ideas and innovate. Leadership is generally supportive, and there’s a strong emphasis on professional development through training programs and internal mobility.

One of the standout aspects is the work-life balance. Flexible schedules and remote work options (depending on the role) make it easier to manage personal and professional responsibilities. Compensation and benefits are competitive, especially in technical roles.

However, like many large organizations, HPE can sometimes feel bureaucratic. Decision-making processes may be slower, and navigating internal structures can be challenging for new employees. Additionally, career growth may depend heavily on networking and finding the right internal opportunities.

A typical day  at work in the Technical Services Field is never the same. Each day brings new challenges and new problems to solve.
The hardest part of the job is to balance work life and family life, it can be very demanding and overtime is always available to those who wanted it.
Unfortunately HPE senior management no longer feel that Technical Services is a worth while part of the company to have and has outsourced the world wide division to other companies.
The most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with our customers and getting to know there infrastructure and their personalities.

Hewlett-Packard is a well-known and respected company. It is a great place to develop professionally and learn the ins-and-outs of the IT world.

It is rewarding to work for a reputed establishment. Although the pay rate and benefits could be a lot better, the work environment is a great compromise for those two facts. It has been the most enjoyable job that I had so far. Working here requires a lot of critical thinking and organisation. Its challenging pace of work certainly made me a undeniable candidate for future opportunities.

My days were split between meetings, email, and issue resolution.  The customer was demanding (expected), but considerate.  A good place to work.  HPE/DXC was a challenge, as there was limited management oversight/communication.  In part, this was a result of a significant growth in the size of the contract a few months before my contract began.  I think everyone was trying to get their arms around the scale of the new environment that was being supported.

The benefits and pay are above market standard

No structure, hire and fire culture, management doesn’t seem to have a plan or any interest in keeping employees engaged

Every person for themselves, no major culture experienced. Everyone including the Managers work as individual contributors
